Villa Corea.

Located in Assinie, 94 km from Abidjan, Villa Corea is part of the development of this Gulf of Guinea seaside town as an alternative to the progressive densification of the Ivorian economic capital.

Designed as an intergenerational home for a Franco-Ivorian family, it unfolds deep within a plot open to two parallel streets. The villa is conceived as a modern block, oriented and open to a large interior garden in its Western expression, but favoring a layout centered on the relationships of a multi-generational Ivorian family in its interior spaces.

From north to south, a journey between private spaces and reception areas is organized around a large living room on two levels. The private and service spaces occupy the north entrance of the villa with a private garden for the parents occupying the entire eastern wing. The garage and the housemaid's annex extend to an outdoor African kitchen in the western wing. This is connected to the American kitchen open to the central living room. The living room distributes the numerous bedrooms of the villa intended for children, grandchildren, and friends. It extends through covered terraces to the south and a large 600 m² garden. Besides its recreational role, the garden's south pool is also intended to cool the house during the hottest tropical seasons.

The desire to create an open house is reinforced by the use of columns to clear large ventilated interior spaces, benefiting from the breezes of the nearby ocean. The central volume serves as a crown to the building and introduces a singular amplitude to the living room. Large bay windows combined with natural ventilation of all the villa's rooms allow the interior spaces to be perpetually bathed in the sunlight of the tropics while ensuring natural ventilation.
